WorldSSP300: A battling ride for Carter Thompson (MTM Kawasaki) saw the Australian spend all but one lap in the podium positions.
Thompson claimed his third victory of the campaign by just 0.010s from his championship rival Benat Fernandez (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kove). Fernandez enjoyed a combative race that saw the leading two riders break away before the final lap when the battle was decided.
David Salvador was the race leader coming out the final corner. The Team ProDina XCI rider led until the final metres of the race before being beaten on the run to the line by the podium finishers. Despite leading three laps the Spaniard ended the race 0.041s behind Thompson in fourth position.
Daniel Mogeda (Pons Motorsport Italika Racing) rode to the limit on the final lap to make overtaking moves at Turn 1, Turn 9 and the run to the chequered flag to finish third.
Championship Highlights
- With two races remaining the final round of the season sees four riders with a chance of winning the title. Benat Fernandez leads Thompson by ten points with David Salvador dropping a further seven points.
- Thompson’s victory confirmed Kawasaki as the Manufacturers’ Championship.
