FIM JuniorGP: A crisp day of qualifying at Circuit Ricardo Tormo has wrapped up, paving the way for a thrilling Sunday of racing in every class
A thrilling Sunday of action awaits in Valencia, with three title deciders and two FIM JuniorGP World Championship races on the schedule. After a busy day of qualifying at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the grids are set – and the poles are decided. In JuniorGP, Marco Morelli (Gryd – MLav Racing) will lead the pack from pole, while Eric Fernandez (FAU 55 TEY Racing) secured back-to-back poles in the Moto2 European Championship. Fernando Bujosa (AC Racing Team) claimed qualifying honours in the European Talent Cup as he battles for the title, and Iker Garcia (GV Tamoil Racing) took pole in the Stock European Championship as he too chases glory.
FIM JuniorGP
Two races are pencilled in for the JuniorGP season finale on Sunday, and our most recent race winner, Marco Morelli, will start from pole for the first time in the category. The Argentinian’s blistering 1:36.046 put him half a second clear of fellow Barcelona race winner Jesus Rios (Finetwork Mir Racing Team), with newly crowned Champion Brian Uriarte (UAX SeventyTwo Artbox) completing the front row.
Row 2 promises fireworks as well, featuring David Gonzalez (AC Racing Team), Joel Esteban (CFMoto Junior Team) and Leonardo Zanni (Finetwork Mir Racing Team).
Although the title was wrapped up last time out, the battle for second and third in the Championship remains wide open. Morelli holds an 11-point advantage over Rico Salmela (Estrella Galicia 0,0), who starts from P8, in the fight for the silver medal. Meanwhile, Esteban, Rios and Casey O’Gorman (Estrella Galicia 0,0) will look to pile the pressure on the #97 as they all aim to secure a podium finish in the standings before stepping up to the Moto3 World Championship in 2026.
Race 1 of JuniorGP kicks off Sunday’s action at 11:00 (UTC +1), with Race 2 getting underway at 14:00.
Moto2 European Championship
In the Moto2 European Championship, Eric Fernandez secured back-to-back pole positions with a 1:33.144. The Spaniard claimed a pair of P2 finishes last time out in Barcelona, and he’ll be aiming to go one better and take a breakthrough win in the season finale at Valencia. Xabi Zurutuza (Andifer American Racing) and Unai Orradre (Team Ciatti-Boscoscuro) join him on the front row, with Championship leader Orradre looking to wrap up the title on Sunday. The #10 holds a 10 point lead over Milan Pawelec (AGR Team), who starts fourth, meaning any podium finish will crown him the 2025 Moto2 European Champion.
Pawelec heads up Row 2, joined by Francesco Mongiardo (FAU 55 TEY Racing) and Alberto Ferrandez (Team Ciatti-Boscoscuro). Lights go out for the Moto2 title decider at 13:00 (UTC +1).
European Talent Cup
Ahead of the title showdown in the European Talent Cup, Fernando Bujosa delivered his first-ever pole in the category – and what a time to do it! A 1:40.899 saw the Spaniard edge out title rival Carlos Cano (UAX SeventyTwo Artbox Team) to a head of the grid start in Valencia. Cano currently holds an 11 point advantage in the Championship, and a podium on Sunday would seal consecutive ETC crowns.
The battle for bronze is alive and well too for Sunday’s race. Three riders are in contention for the final medal in the 2025 Championship, and all three are on the front two rows. Alvaro Lucas (CFMoto Junior Aspar Team) sits fifth in the standings, but he will go from the front row. Just behind him is Alex Longarela (Snipers IGAXTeam), who starts fourth both on the grid and in the Championship. Barcelona race winner Kiandra Ramadhipa (Honda Asia Dream Racing Junior Team), currently third overall, lines up in fifth. Only four points separate the trio in the fight for third. Completing the second row is Yaroslav Karpushin (Frando Racing VHC Team).
Lights out in the ETC race is at 12:00 (UTC +1)!
Stock European Championship
The final race on Sunday will also see another title decided, as Iker Garcia and Tibor Erik Varga go head-to-head. Only one point separates the pair in favour of the Hungarian, but it is Garcia who struck the first blow in Valencia by taking pole position. A 1:35.230 handed the #11 pole position, with Varga snatching a P6 start with his final effort of the afternoon.
Amid the title drama, the likes of Alberto Garcia (GV Tamoil Racing) and Marco Tapia (FACE Racing) will be chasing maiden wins in the class from the front row, while Ruben Romero (SF Racing) and Archie Bob McDonald (Team Honda Laglisse) are both already race winners in the class chasing more glory from the second row.
The Stock class see lights out at 15:00 (UTC+1).
