As Yamaha Motor Europe outlined their vision for the future at the ‘Redefine the Standard’ event in Milan, the Ténéré 4 Concept broke cover – revealing an ongoing development project for a light and agile A2 Adventure model as Yamaha looks to further expand their Adventure line-up in coming years.
Yamaha’s rich legacy in the Adventure segment can be traced back to the very first edition of the Paris-Dakar rally (1979), which was won outright by the legendary XT500. Building on this success and a continued commitment to development, the first Ténéré was born, with the XT600 Ténéré unveiled in 1982, sparking a movement that would spread worldwide.
Since then, the Ténéré name has become synonymous with adventure. Built with true off-road capability at its core, it has encouraged generations of riders to explore and given them the confidence to go beyond the beaten path.
Leaning on over 40 years of class-leading history, Yamaha have continued to put the needs of their customers at the forefront of their developments with the Ténéré 4 Concept unveiled as the latest evolution of the Ténéré family. Driven by customer demand it showcases Yamaha’s commitment to further strengthening its presence in the Adventure segment. This new lightweight and agile concept motorcycle marks a new chapter for the meaningful expansion of the Ténéré family, aiming to bring a new dimension to adventure riding for experienced riders, whilst also being accessible for those who want to find their next adventure.
An Exciting New Chapter
Combining the DNA and experience of its Ténéré siblings, the Ténéré 4 Concept has been developed for riders looking for a lightweight, controllable motorcycle that allows them to tackle rugged terrain with greater confidence, while opening their world up to new trails and adventures.
Striking the balance between performance, agility and controllability is an all-new single-cylinder engine, which delivers high combustion efficiency, strong low- to mid-range torque and usable high-rpm performance.
Suitable for A2 licence holders, the Ténéré 4 Concept aims to add a new level of excitement to the Adventure segment. Staying true to its Ténéré heritage, it combines a lightweight and agile design with real off-road capabilities, ensuring a thrilling and fun ride on every terrain.
The Concept model features a newly developed frame which gives robust strength while remaining lightweight to give true versatility, providing excellent handling and riding feel both on the road and when navigating challenging trails.
The Ténéré 4 Concept: A Closer Look
True Ténéré Spirit is incorporated into every detail of the Ténéré 4 Concept, which is instantly recognisable as part of the Ténéré family with a flat, low fuel-tank silhouette and narrow profile – paying homage to its rally roots. It combines functional technology with robust engineering and purposeful design, developed from Yamaha’s Adventure experience with the Ténéré 700.
The Ténéré 4 Concept is presented with adventure ready KYB suspension, front and rear, with its 21/18-inch spoked wheels fitted with Michelin Anakee Wild tyres and a compact titanium Akrapovič exhaust completing the look.
Focusing on rider-led ergonomics, the Ténéré 4 Concept aims to deliver the agility and accessibility expected from a new-generation Adventure motorcycle, while staying true to the decades long history of Yamaha’s Adventure segment.
