Worldssp300: Thompson Wins Ahead Of Title RivalsAs ever in the WorldSSP300 class the battle for the race victory went down to the wire. Carter Thompson (MTM Kawasaki) was the last man standing as he led across the line to claim his second victory of the season.

There were nine changes of the lead throughout the 11 lap duration with Thompson leading four laps. David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) matched that feat but ultimately had to settle for finishing second ahead of Benat Fernandez (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kove).

Juan Risueno (MS Racing) finished in fifth position but his fastest lap of the race will be rewarded with pole position for Race 2. By setting the tenth fastest lap Fernandez will start from the fourth row of the grid alongside Thompson.

Championship Highlights

  • Benat Fernandez now holds a seven point lead from Salvador while Thompson pulled back nine points to sit 16 adrift of the championship leader.
  • Kove moved ahead of Yamaha in the Manufacturers Standings but trail Kawasaki by 68 points with five races remaining.

P1 – Carter Thomson (MTM Kawasaki)
“The race was really good, and I felt like my pace was strong throughout. I tried to stay at the front and to set a consistent rhythm every lap. The team gave me a great bike this weekend and I felt really comfortable. I knew the slipstream would be important on the last lap. I had been overtaken on the back straight earlier so I managed my position and made my move in the last sector. Tomorrow, there will be a big group again but it should be a good race. The championship looks good at the moment but I am taking it race by race.
