At EICMA 2026, SENA sets out its ambition to make the smart helmet a new standard in motorcycling.
Following sixteen years of innovation in intercoms and over a decade of smart helmet development, the company presents an expanded range of helmets designed around their built-in technologies. Its strategy rests on a unique industrial asset: the world’s first and only factory dedicated entirely to manufacturing smart helmets.
At EICMA 2026, SENA unveils a new generation of smart helmets: all-new 60 mm speakers, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on more models, 4K cameras and shells incorporating aramid fibre. With the Phantom KV headlining its range, alongside new intercoms with replaceable batteries and its own dedicated factory, SENA is stepping up its smart helmet offensive.
The Phantom KV ushers in a new generation of smart helmets
A key launch, the Phantom KV pairs a lighter fibreglass and aramid fibre shell with new speakers and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Available in three colours, it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2027 for €949.
SENA also presents the Specter KV, a modular helmet with 60 mm speakers and ANC. Several new helmets have 4K cameras: the Phantom Camera and Outlander Camera have chin-bar cameras, while the Specter KV Camera houses its camera on top of the helmet.
Sixteen years of innovation, a factory dedicated to smart helmets
After sixteen years developing intercoms and over a decade researching smart helmets, SENA has a facility purpose-built for the latter. Its Qingyuan factory in China is the world’s first and only dedicated entirely to manufacturing smart helmets. On this 6,720 m² site, where mass production began in 2024, helmets are designed and manufactured around their built-in technologies.
SENA is also developing its intercom range with the 60XR and its new Thumbwheel dial, and the 60C, combining Mesh communication and a 4K camera. First introduced on the SPIDER X Slim and APEX in 2026, replaceable batteries also feature on the new 60XR, 60C and SPIDER X.
Tae Kim envisions the helmet as your co-pilot
SENA founder Tae Kim sees the smart helmet becoming a true co-pilot: an intelligent riding companion able to converse naturally with the rider, understand its surroundings and anticipate needs. His vision is for technology to offer assistance while leaving riders free to enjoy the road.
Motorcycling Gets Connected. SENA Rethinks The Helmet
TFT displays, navigation systems, mobile apps, cameras and intercoms: connectivity is playing an ever greater role in motorcycling. Equipment is proliferating, with devices increasingly communicating with one another. The helmet is part of this evolution too. While retaining its primary protective function, it now incorporates communication, audio and rider-assistance technologies.
This development is rooted in SENA’s own history. Founded in 1998, the company originally developed communication technologies for industrial applications. Its founder, Tae Kim, is also a keen motorcyclist. Riding with friends, he encountered a paradox familiar to every rider: sharing the road, the scenery and the excitement, yet being unable to exchange a word once their helmets were on.
“I made the decision that changed SENA’s history while riding a motorcycle. I wasn’t trying to invent a technology. I simply wanted to warn my friends of a hazard or share a view without waiting for the next stop. That still drives us at SENA today: sharing the pleasure of riding and looking out for one another.” Tae Kim, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, SENA
SENA has continued to advance motorcycle communication ever since. In 2017, the 30K and its Mesh technology allowed riders to change positions within a group, move away and return without manually reconnecting. Audio quality improved with Harman Kardon from 2022, followed by Bose. In 2024, artificial intelligence reduced noise picked up by the 60S microphone. In 2025, WAVE enabled the 2nd generation of communication over unlimited distance via cellular networks. In 2026, the SPIDER X Slim demonstrated advances in miniaturisation, while replaceable batteries in the APEX range made it easier to replace them over the product’s lifetime.
But SENA had already begun exploring another approach in 2015: integrating its technologies directly into the helmet. At AIMExpo, it presented its first smart helmet prototype. Two years later, the Momentum range combined communication, a camera and Active Noise Cancellation. It paved the way for a succession of open-face, modular and full-face helmets progressively incorporating SENA communication technologies.

SENA MOMENTUM INC PRO – Launched in 2018 | First smart helmet with an integrated camera and Active Noise Cancellation
In 2025, the Phantom marked another milestone. Manufactured at the new dedicated Qingyuan factory, it was designed from the outset around its communication technologies.
Ten years after its first prototype, SENA no longer simply adds technology to a helmet: it designs the helmet around that technology.
At SENA , Engineers Have The Freedom To Innovate
On the Phantom, this design freedom translates into practical decisions: controls are built into the shell, antennas sit inside the helmet and speakers are housed in specially designed acoustic chambers. Space for the battery and electronic components is also planned from the outset.

SENA PHANTOM ANC – 2025 – Acoustic chambers
This design freedom comes into its own with more complex technologies. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), for example, requires simultaneous work on helmet acoustics, microphone positioning, speakers and electronic sound processing. Integrating a camera also means planning its location, power supply and controls from the start.

SENA SPECTER KV CAMERA – Camera integrated into the top of the helmet – New for 2027
The aim is to integrate these functions while meeting protection, comfort and ergonomic requirements, allowing riders to communicate, follow navigation instructions or listen to music without having to think about the technology.
“Developing our helmet architecture and electronics under one roof allows our safety and technology teams to collaborate on tooling from the very first sketch. Instead of taking existing helmets to retrofit speakers and wiring, we mould dedicated, impact-safe cavities directly into the shell design. This unified manufacturing process ensures our safety systems and technology work in complete harmony, giving riders crystal-clear communication and advanced connectivity without sacrificing a single millimetre of certified impact protection.” WonMin Choi, Senior Vice President of Helmet Manufacturing.
This approach has earned independent recognition: the Phantom, Phantom XB, Phantom Camera and Phantom ANC are the world’s first SNELL-certified smart motorcycle helmets, with certification covering sizes S, M and L.
To give his engineers this design freedom, SENA founder and CEO Tae Kim made a strategic decision: to establish the company’s own factory, dedicated entirely to manufacturing smart helmets.
Qingyuan: The world’s first and only factory dedicated to smart helmets
Located in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, China, SENA’s factory is the world’s first and only facility dedicated entirely to manufacturing smart helmets.

SENA FACTORY – Main entrance
Established in 2023, this 6,720 m² industrial site brings together the main production stages: composite shell moulding, robotic cutting, painting, manufacture of interior components and assembly.

SENA FACTORY – Composite helmet shell moulding equipment
Ten production cells allow the integration of components including electronics supplied by SENA’s Shenzhen factory.

SENA FACTORY – Assembly line
The site also has its own test facilities for impact, penetration, retention-system strength and climatic testing, with reference to ECE, DOT and SNELL requirements, among others.

SENA FACTORY – Testing equipment
Mass production began in July 2024 with the Cavalry 2, intended for the US market. Manufacturing of the Phantom followed in November that year, ahead of its commercial launch in 2025.
At Qingyuan, SENA brings together its expertise in communication and the skills of helmet manufacturing. The brand now has its own industrial facility to develop and mass-produce an expanded range of smart helmets.
SENA steps up its smart helmet offensive
Following a year already packed with new launches in 2025, SENA is accelerating further. At EICMA 2026, the company presents a new generation of smart helmets, led by the Phantom KV, while continuing to expand its range into modular and adventure helmets and new concepts.

SENA Phantom KV
“We believe the smart helmet will become a standard in motorcycling. By controlling both its design and manufacturing, SENA has the means to support this transformation. At EICMA 2026, we are doing more than presenting new products: we are setting out our ambition for the future of motorcycle equipment.” Shawn Kim, Chief Marketing Officer, SENA
Phantom KV: SENA backs aramid fibre and a quieter ride
One of SENA’s main launches at EICMA 2026, the Phantom KV brings several upgrades to its premium smart full-face helmet: a new shell combining fibreglass and aramid fibre, a 50 g weight reduction compared with the Phantom ANC, and a new ANC acoustic system.

SENA Phantom KV – Glossy Black
With its distinctive visible weave, aramid fibre offers excellent abrasion resistance and good energy absorption properties. Unlike carbon fibre, it is non-conductive, helping wireless communication signals pass through.

TAE KIM envisions the helmet as your co-pilot
What if, one day, you could simply speak to your helmet and have it understand what you need? A genuinely intelligent riding companion, able to converse naturally with the rider, understand its surroundings, anticipate needs and offer assistance without ever detracting from the pleasure of riding.
In a few years, there might be no need for multiple manual controls. The helmet could recognise riding companions, establish communications automatically, warn of a hazard before a bend or suggest a suitable route. With artificial intelligence, it would know how to provide the right information at the right moment and, above all, stay silent when that information is not needed.
For Tae Kim, the rider of the future will not be the one with the most technology, but the one who is least aware of it. A rider free to enjoy the road, share the experience and look out for fellow travellers.
