A world record-breaking motorcycle, among the most individually famous bikes on the planet, is going under the hammer with H&H Classics.
The ‘one-off’ 2009 Millyard Viper V10, estimated at £100,000-£150,000, will be auctioned on Wednesday 22nd July at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull.
Almost needing to be seen, and ridden, to be believed, the fully road legal creation of Allen Millyard, known the world over as a genius engineer and custom bike builder, broke the Fastest Tandem Motorcycle World Record in May 2023 at Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire, officially timed at 183.5mph, beating the previous record by almost 5mph.
Millyard’s passenger on the successful world record attempt was his fellow ‘The Motorbike Show’ presenter Henry Cole.
The awesome machine, offered directly from Millyard’s personal collection and considered by him as one of his ‘most significant creations’, was road registered in 2009 and shaken down at 207mph at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground.
Its life began in 2004 with a decade old Dodge Viper GTS engine. Painstakingly handcrafted over the next five years, the 8 litre V10-powered machine is credited with developing some 500bhp / 525Ibft.
Impressive as the machine is, equally remarkable is that Millyard has covered over 9,000 miles on the bike, including on the Isle of Man where he rode it around the famous TT circuit.
Mike Davis, senior motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: “This 2009 Millyard Viper V10 is an incredible creation, and H&H Classics is delighted to be the first auction house that Allen has entrusted with one of his creations directly. What can you say, a one-off, built by a one-off!”
Being such an awe-inspiring motorcycle has led the motorcycle to becoming a bit of a global sensation. Not content with being an internet superstar, it has numerous print and TV appearances too.
Mike added: “There can be few bikes with a global following such as with this 2009 Millyard Viper V10. It is testament to an extraordinary machine from an extraordinary individual.”
All lots appearing in the sale will be available to view in person at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, from 10am on Tuesday 21st July and from 9am on Wednesday 22nd July, while the auction then commences at 10am.
Anyone looking to bid on one of the lots can do so in person, online, by telephone or by leaving a commission bid, while for more details about any of the classic motorcycles or vintage scooters, or to register to bid, visit www.handh.co.uk.
